The Consciousness Compass
SEPTEMBER 2020
After five months of challenges and growth, our team has reunited from around the globe to reopen IX on the Autumn Equinox, September 22. Every fall season is a new beginning. It's a second chance to start fresh, and we are ready for it. The theme of this month is self-worth. Whereas last month we explored our self-esteem and the ebb and flow of how we feel about ourselves, now we look at a bigger picture. Having self-worth means we value ourselves as human beings. When we understand that we are here as a divine presence on earth, our self-worth is strong. We recognize that life is the utmost adventure where the Universe provides exactly what we need at the right time for our spiritual and physical evolution. As 2020 continues, let's begin again, recognizing our self-worth and using what we learned from summer to expand our consciousness together. It is our deepest hope that you feel well supported and equipped for your spiritual journey of growth. We are here with you and for you.

THEME OF THE MONTH
To have self-worth means that, at our essence, we value ourselves as a human being who is worthy of respect, kindness, dignity, and love, no matter what.
We don’t have to be perfect to have self-worth. It isn’t something we learn along the way or have to work to create. We are born with self-worth, yet it is one of those character traits that we often lose sight of before we understand what it is.
As a child, self-worth can get buried under hurt, abandonment, criticism, shame, or any number of emotions that make us feel less than or pushed away. It’s different from self-esteem, which can fluctuate from moment to moment. Self-worth is a deep inner knowing that even though we may not always act as our best selves, we are still on the planet to contribute to the world in a way that only we can.
As we travel the path of conscious awareness, we generate courage. Our senses wake up, and we are drawn to explore the places within that feel blocked or stuck or locked away. The more we expand and reclaim those parts of ourselves that may have been inadvertently buried as some form of protection, the more self-worth bubbles to the surface. It’s then that we realize that self-worth has always been there, waiting to be recognized for the foundational balance and grace that it holds for each of us.
EMOTIONS
Amplify Self-Worth
This month we focus on the shelter emotions of hurt, abandonment, and resentment as we dive into the theme of self-worth.
Often these emotions are tied to childhood experiences that derailed our ability to feel valued and cherished for being ourselves. While it might seem easier to leave the past in the past, these deep unresolved emotions run our lives in quiet yet powerful ways. We need to look back so that we can look forward, untethered from emotions that no longer serve us or our evolving consciousness.
Self-worth is often confused with self-confidence and self-esteem, yet it is very different. Confidence has to do with our ability to rely on ourselves. Esteem is our estimation of who we are. Both depend heavily on what we feel we can “do” to influence the world around us. On the other hand, self-worth is more internal. It means knowing that we are divine beings on Earth, with value, regardless of our talents, abilities, status, family history, community, past or current situation. Self-worth is not about doing, it’s about being.
Self-worth is greatly influenced in childhood where we learn by absorbing and experiencing the world around us. Without strong discernment skills, we look to other’s opinions and actions to inform how we feel about ourselves. If we grew up feeling we deserved to be hurt, abandoned, or resented, our self-worth will reflect that and play out in our adult lives until we intervene.
To redefine self-worth, listen to the stories that run on auto-play in your head. Get quiet and think about when and how the emotions of hurt, abandonment, and resentment show up. Challenge the inner voice that says you’re not worthy of love, or deserving of safety, or anything else that threatens your ability to feel cherished and valued. This is not about placing blame so that we can feel better about ourselves. This is about doing the deep work required to reclaim our light and put the past in perspective. When we do, we are able to build our sense of self-worth from within. Our choices become conscious and in alignment with our highest truths. This is how healthy self-worth develops, as a creative, conscious relationship with the Divine and the world around us.
COLOR
The color orange is associated with the second chakra, the seat of our emotional identity and balance.
Orange relates to creation, intuition, receptiveness, assimilation, and the feminine archetype. Author Daniel Briez, in his book Color Perfumes, Perfumes for Health, states that the frequency of the color orange “introduces matrix energy. The matrix is what enables us to build all our experiences and creations.”
When our orange frequency is balanced, we have healthy boundaries and emotional intelligence. We nurture ourselves and can care for others without depleting our energy. We embrace both pain and pleasure, which includes sexual satisfaction and the creation of life.
When the orange frequency is deficient, our entire sense of self becomes disrupted. Our self-confidence and ability to create become compromised. We stop trusting our intuition and become hypersensitive to others and their opinions. As we lose trust in ourselves, our concentration and focus become skewed, which can lead to memory problems and even a sense of recklessness.
The color orange is related to maternal energy. As Daniel states, “A situation of open or underlying conflict with our mother disturbs the action of this frequency. Likewise, if we deny a manifestation of a certain sensitivity (as men are inclined to do), or if we come from a family where the maternal archetype is imbalanced, the position of the frequency will be affected.”
Assimilation, both physical and emotional, is also affected by the color orange. Physically the orange frequency impacts how we absorb food, the functioning of our cellular fluids, and how we sleep. On an emotional level, Daniel says the color orange governs our “assimilation of experience. An orange deficiency gives rise to a poor perception of our inner position.” He further states, “If we can’t assimilate the lessons of an experience in life, we will repeat it over and over.”
The orange frequency is related to the element of water. To balance orange, think of actions and situations that create a sense of flow in your life. Creativity, intimacy, expressing emotional needs, giving and receiving, building healthy boundaries, letting go, dancing, swimming, meditation, yoga, or any activity that brings you joy will help to harmonize your orange frequency and balance the second chakra.
Daniel Briez, author and lecturer, is the founder of the Colour Institute. He runs many chrome therapy courses in France and other countries. Designer of the Althearah brand of “Colour Perfumes,” his research has attracted the interest of scientists, members of the medical community and health care professions, and he has gained an international audience.
IX MASTER CRYSTAL
Nonno
Wisdom Counselor
Nonno reminds us that our higher consciousness is always available for guidance and support.
Nonno is a majestic Smoky Quartz who serves as the beloved grandfather of IX. His steadfast presence encourages us to be brave – to seek out and manifest the light we hold within. Nonno helps to awaken our consciousness and the emergence of our true passion.
During times of doubt, Nonno reminds us to value our self-worth. The journey of life is not meant to be traveled alone. Help is all around us, waiting to be invited into our consciousness. Through practices such as meditation, prayer, creative self-expression, and anything else that quiets our mind, we can tap into our higher selves. When we do, we access the wisdom of our ancestors and build skills to love and trust ourselves.
Part of wisdom is knowing that every being is divine and has its own journey. One of Nonno’s gifts is that he can hold space for us as we find our way. He won’t interfere or share his advice unless asked. Nonno is always there, ready to step into his role as Grandfather Wisdom when requested.
Nonno also teaches us the value of gratitude, reminding us that within every experience is a gift. Sometimes it takes a while for that gift to surface, but all acts of love, pain, acceptance, rejection – all have something to teach us – and Nonno stands steady as we learn.
With Nonno’s presence and reassurance, we begin to see the interconnectedness of all things. We connect to our self-worth, and as we do, we awaken the unity within that is our body, mind, and soul and strengthen our presence on earth.
About the name Nonno
“Nonno” means grandfather. As the patriarch of a family, grandfathers tie us to our lineage and the wisdom of our ancestors. When we remember and honor those who have come before us, we realize that a higher level of knowledge is always available to those who seek it.
Message from Nonno
As we recognize the gifts in each experience, Nonno also reminds us to honor ourselves for being willing, and often quite courageous, to follow our inner voice and create a life with passion. Both feeling grateful, and being grateful, are integral parts of our sacred journey. The more we are open to both, the more our life expands in extraordinary ways. Meditate with Nonno to honor your worth and the worth of all beings.
CELESTIAL SCHEDULE
Virgo Season
The September Sun sheds healing light on us as he travels through pristine Virgo, the sign of cleanliness, order, and diagnostic intelligence. The sign of the Virgin Earth Goddess also rules plant-based medicine and the wisdom of the mind body connection, that supports our mental and physical well being. Virgo, the second sign of the zodiac ruled by Mercury, the planet of thought and communication, governs our capacity to refine our minds and ourselves as instruments of skillful service. No sign is more interested in using its knowledge, gifts, and talents in the service of others and humanity.
Virgo, the healer of the zodiac, knows that while the body and environment certainly play a part in our health, much illness and wellness begins in the mind. This month at IX, we are focusing the beam of our attention on self-worth. By using Virgo’s legendary discernment to eliminate patterns of thought that reinforce feelings of low self-worth, we carefully select the nutritious thoughts, beliefs, and practices that nurture healthy self-worth, so it can blossom in the golden light of late summer.
This year the Sun and Mercury began their journey through Virgo together in late August, traveling hand in hand to inspire our analytical intelligence and discernment. Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, will begin September in Virgo, inspiring us to finish up organizing our thinking as we continue to act on our best ideas and healing strategies. On September 5th, Mercury leaves Virgo, and heads into lovely Libra to inspire our mental peace and capacity for diplomacy and compromise.
Virgo, the final sign of summer, prepares us for the coming change of seasons, which occurs later this month. The growing season is at an end, and it will soon be time to harvest remaining crops as fall approaches. Virgo governs the intestines and digestion process, which is always sorting what we can harvest internally to build our bodies and what needs to be eliminated. Likewise, Virgo harvests our thoughts, discerning which ideas and mental patterns are soulfully nutritious, and which are mental junk food and need to be released.
This September is an eventful month astrologically, beginning with the Full Moon in Pisces on September 2nd, that spotlights health and work issues, along with the dreams that it is time to achieve. It is often issues of self-worth that require healing before we can take the actions necessary to achieving our cherished dreams. The Full Moon in Pisces brings the practical intelligence of the Virgo Sun into perfect balance with the mystic surrender inspired by the Pisces Full Moon. Together they remind us that mind and body are at their healthiest and best informed when in alignment with Divine Spirit and the Divine Design for us. The Full Moon in Pisces always sheds light on the Big Picture of our cherished dreams and visions, while the Virgo Sun reminds us that all dreams are manifested with practical, incremental detailed action. The Full Moon in Pisces reminds us to focus on both the forest and the trees, as we delight in the healing properties of plants and the spiritually healing vistas that Mother Nature provides.
The Pisces Full Moon on the 2nd begins the month highlighting our dreams as well as all that needs healing in our lives. We can then begin the process of eliminating nutritional habits, thought patterns and practices that stand in the way of our health and visionary fulfillment.
It has been a summer of deep introspection, that has, and will continue to reveal much to us this month that requires healing and adjustment in our lives and in our world. As September begins, Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter are all traveling retrograde in executive Capricorn, along with Neptune in visionary Pisces, and evolutionary Uranus in earthy Taurus. On September 12th, Jupiter will finally station direct, as will Saturn in Capricorn on September 29th. These two titanic planets will inspire us to slowly begin to advance revised goals, plans and weighty restructuring of business, finances and our lives that we have been reflecting on since the spring. The Virgo Sun will help us prioritize the revisions we are ready to take.
Along with these powerful planetary changes of direction this month, there are other astrological shifts. On September 6th, lovely Venus leaves soulful Cancer and heads into radiant Leo, blessing our hearts with the courage to love ourselves, our inner child, and the people who truly touch our hearts. Venus will be inspiring gorgeous works of art and acts of love.
On September 4th, as mentioned above, Mercury, the planetary ruler of Virgo, will leave Virgo and head into Libra to inspire our most fair, balanced and beautiful thinking. Mercury will be cultivating our most diplomatic patterns of communication as he travels through Libra, until September 27th, when he plunges into Scorpio’s depths to explore all that lies beneath the surface of our awareness.
On September 9th, Mars stations retrograde in martial Aries, his home sign and strategically withdraws for weeks of reflections, to revise strategies and plans of action. Mars will station direct on November 13th.
On September 12th, Jupiter stations direct, inspiring us to slowly advance revised expansive executive plans, goals and ideas.
September 17th brings the New Moon in Virgo, which after two weeks of releasing what no longer serves our health and the manifestation of our dreams, begins a new growing cycle that inspires us to build in the practices, thought patterns and emotional patterns that support our health and the self-worth that provides a beautiful foundation for all success great and small.
On September 22nd, the Sun leaves pristine Virgo, and heads into poised exquisite Libra for the autumn equinox and fall officially begins. Our focus shifts to cultivating inner peace and outer poise as we cultivate relationships to warm us through the fall and winter.
On September 27th, Mercury, the planet of thought and communication, enters Scorpio, providing us with keen insight and penetrating intelligence that helps us peer beneath the surface into our own subconscious motivations and those of others.
On September 29th, Saturn stations direct, inspiring us to slowly begin to advance revised executive plans and long term goals. (Pluto will also be stationing direct early next month.)
It’s a gorgeous month for healing as the Virgo Sun invites us to connect with nature to restore us on all levels. It’s a stupendous month for all forms of cleaning, clearing, and getting organized. Spend time on trails of beauty to restore your spirit. Enjoy organic nutrition and healing herbs to support your body. Put yourself on a mental diet of gratitude and acceptance to support your mental health. Surround yourself with golden greens and earth tones for color therapy delighting in summer’s lengthening shadows and golden light. Make friends with local trees and plants silently blessing them energetically. For maximum healing, step back into the sacred ensouled Universe that is alive, conscious and awaiting your conscious presence, which is a gift to all creation.
With Love and Blessings, Demitra Vassiliadis

Chakra - Solar Plexus
The second chakra, the sacral chakra, is located below the navel at the center of the lower abdomen. It is our center of emotions, sensuality, and creativity. The second chakra encourages us to live in the space of flow and flexibility, feeling the world around us, and actively participating in it. After realizing we are stable and secure, we are able to focus on pleasure and enjoyment. A strong connection with the sacral chakra inspires us to connect to the divine energy within us that flows like water, accepting change and enjoying the process of transformation.
